Women’s Network
The Dickinson Wright Women’s Network is committed to the promotion and advancement of women in our Firm, in business, and in the community through networking, mentoring and philanthropic endeavors. The Network is comprised of the Firm’s women attorneys who conduct internal meetings centered around a topical issue, including professional growth, but also provides a forum for the Firm’s women attorneys to learn from one another and outside speakers. The Network is designed to address topics and issues that present challenges specific to women in the practice of law. External networking opportunities between the Firm’s women attorneys, clients, and others in the community are also provided by the Network.
The Network was created in recognition that women lawyers face unique issues in practicing law. One of the main purposes in establishing the Dickinson Wright Women’s Network was to provide a forum for women to discuss these challenges and learn how other women, both inside and outside the firm, have addressed them. The meetings, the mentoring, and the networking events all work toward that goal, while providing the Network’s members with the opportunity to learn and grow, so they are better positioned to succeed as lawyers.
“Sharing Our Success” Annual Benefit
Each year the Dickinson Wright Women’s Network sponsors an event that brings business women together to network and socialize in a fun and friendly environment while supporting the work of a charity partner. Clients and potential clients are invited to a retail expo that offers shopping opportunities for busy professionals and provides an opportunity to support Spectrum Human Services Inc & Affiliated Companies. Spectrum offers programs and services to disadvantaged children, youth, adults and families in order to support the family structure and provide life improvement alternatives.
Women’s Network Scholarship
The Women’s Network recently established the “Dickinson Wright Women’s Network Scholarship,” which is administered through the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation. The scholarship annually awards $2,500 to an outstanding woman law student attending one of Michigan’s five accredited law schools (University of Michigan Law School, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Michigan State University College of Law, Wayne State University Law School, and University of Detroit Mercy School of Law), providing a tangible contribution to the education and future of high-potential women. The Women’s Network is proud to be part of this scholarship program.
